KNOW DEMENTIA
Know Dementia is a Sussex-based charity offering advice and support to families, care partners and people with a diagnosis. Our main aim is to provide precious moments away from the everyday challenges of living with the disease. We achieve this through the provision of weekly, bi-monthly and monthly community events held in Sussex towns and villages. Our Memory Moments Cafés provide an opportunity for people to come and enjoy some light refreshments in the company of others experiencing a similar life situation, while enjoying light entertainment and meaningful activities, including music, dance and crafts. Our friendly, welcoming cafés are led by our trained co-ordinators, assisted by volunteers.
Locally to Southwater, we run a café in Horsham on the third Tuesday of every month from 2pm-4pm in the Blackbridge Community Centre. In addition to this, we run a weekly Sporting Moments group on Mondays from 10am – 12pm in Dial Post Village Hall. This is an opportunity for people to come along with a care partner to participate in a variety of low-impact seated exercises, games and indoor sports including new age curling, boccia, table tennis, badminton and air-hockey. The session also includes time for a cuppa and chat so that new local friendships can be made.
