Southwater welcomes new life to Country Park

Resident photographer John Parsons was lucky enough to spot the new residents to our Country Park, in the form of baby coots and cygnets.

The young swans, called cygnets, are born short-necked, with thick fur. Whilst they are capable of swimming after just a few hours after hatching, they will be tended to by their parents for several months.

The other new arrivals to the lake are baby coots, part of the rail family. The coots are often seen swimming in the open water.
